Stone Update #011 Reps Over Perfection
“Stone Updates” is my ongoing, unfiltered journal as I learn electronic music from absolute scratch. Expect messy experiments, rookie mistakes, tiny wins, and lots of self-deprecating humor as I figure out Ableton one chaotic button press at a time.

My Side Quest in Music, Creativity, and Permission to Be a Rookie Again
Learn More About Adam StoneUpdate:
Last time I checked in, I was basically headbutting a wall trying to make better music. And I think I finally realized the problem. I was trying to make better music. Chasing expectations. Chasing what I thought was right. What I thought should sound good. That mindset turns learning into circles and slowly suffocates creativity.
Right now, I do not need perfection. I need reps. I need volume. I need to keep making music because that is the part I actually enjoy. Producing. Exploring.
Letting things exist without overthinking them to death.
Do people listen. Honestly, not many. My Spotify and Apple Music analytics are pretty low. And that is completely fine. I have no expectation that people like my music. I like my music. I like making it. This side quest has been filling my cup in a way I did not know I needed.
Creativity matters. We all need outlets where we can try something new and willingly become beginners again. Tech House production is that space for me.
The good news is during this road trip through Waco and Stillwater, from planes to hotel rooms to random quiet moments, I made a brand new track from scratch. Is it perfect. No. It does not need to be. I have listened to it over and over and I think it is okay. Flaws and all.

I could stare at it forever and it would never be good enough. And that is the trap. Comparing myself to producers like Mau P, John Summit, or Max Styler makes as much sense as a youth basketball player comparing themselves to LeBron. Right now I am learning how to dribble. How to pass. How to shoot.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
I am not letting anyone steal this joy. New music coming soon on Spotify and Apple Music.

Remember, this page is less about perfection and more about permission — to explore, to create, to begin again. Welcome to the side quest.
