monthly musings

Once a month microdose of the coolest things I discover.

1. Favorite Tool update comes from the brillant Luke Benz's ncaahoopR thesis update. In this R update, Luke has updated win probability models for the upcoming 2019-20 college basketball season. In the above link, Luke provides some background on the statistical details of the model.

2. Reading the three part advice series from Joel Spolsky. It's an older read but still very relevant in today's times. Much of the article is about software design and the initial phases in product management and software, but the more that I am involved in sports performance, the more I am recognizing crossover themes resonate from both. I highly recommend reading. Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

3. Enjoying this interview video with John Danaher after BJJ athlete Gordon Ryan won the absolute division at ADCC 2019. During this video, John Danaher shares some of his thoughts about coaching BJJ (or any sport for that manner).

I'd love to have coffee with you if you're around Boulder. I'll buy
